EuroTrash Monday!
Message by Jered Gruber At long last the Giro has begun and we all turn our heads daily to watch the ever entertaining rolling carnival through Italy - and life is good. We've got lots of Giro to report on and a few other tidbits worth chatting about, so grab that last donut or give it to me. Read ON!
WIN With the POWER & SPEED Cycling Sweeps!
Message by NONE The makers of Accelerade, Endurox R4, and Accel Gel present the new “POWER & SPEED” Cycling Sweeps! It’s your chance to win your choice of a 2008 Cervelo P3Carbon OR Zipp 404 Wireless Powertap Wheels. All you do is place an order their proven energy products – and choose the prize you want to win…
Giro’08 St.3: Battling Bennati Beats Bruised Bunch!
Message by Alastair Hamilton Today was billed as one of the few days for the sprinters and it didn’t disappoint! Names like McEwen, Cavendish and Zabel where the bookmaker’s choice for the win, Daniele Bennati wasn’t on the tip of many people’s tongues, but he showed the sprint specialist what it was all about on a day that staying upright was the hardest thing to do!
Giro Di Adam: The Joys Of Sicily
Message by Edmond Hood As the Giro winds around Sicily, PEZ has a man right there in the heart of the peloton; Aussie Elite TT champion, High Road’s Adam Hansen. He took time to talk to Ed Hood after the Cobra had struck on Stage Two.
Giro di PEZ: In The Gods Valley
Message by Richard Pestes Last night was another late one… I made it out of the press room at 10, back to the hotel at 10:30, shower and out to dinner at 11:00, then stopped in for a night cap at a local enoteca – and next thing I know, it’s 2:30 for lights out. Needless to say, today’s start was somewhat sluggish, but I’m now in Agrigento awaiting the finish.
Giro’08 St.2: Rockin’ Ricco Romps It!
Message by Gordan Cameron He talks the talk, and today, at least, Saunier-Duval’s mouth from the south walked the walk. As the finishing hills wrecked the peloton all over the road, Riccardo Ricco staked his claim to the Giro with a ballsy win.
Giro di PEZ: Bravissimo Slipstream!
Message by Richard Pestes When we heard Slipstream set the fastest time check, we knew something was up. Then the time held and history was made, but it wasn’t until I watched the team take the podium that I knew what I’d report on. Never have I seen a team so absolutely thrilled with their performance as I did today on the streets of Palermo.
Giro’08 St.1: Vande Velde Slips The Stream!
Message by Alastair Hamilton It’s the first stage of the first Grand Tour of the year and it’s a team time trial to kick off in the Sicilian town of Palermo. The addition of Astana has taken the focus off of a lot of the other quality squads - but there's no question that all of these teams want a piece of that beautiful first Maglia Rosa of the 2008 Giro.
Giro di PEZ: TTT Corsa Up Close
Message by Richard Pestes It’s like the day before Christamas around here as excitement is building to a fevered pitch for the start of tomorrow’s Giro d’Italia. I’m doing my best to keep up with all the action and soak in the true Palermo experience. I took a spin on the TTT corsa, and can tell you it’s gonna be fast – check this out…
WIN With the POWER & SPEED Cycling Sweeps!
Message by NONE The makers of Accelerade, Endurox R4, and Accel Gel present the new “POWER & SPEED” Cycling Sweeps! It’s your chance to win your choice of a 2008 Cervelo P3Carbon OR Two sets of Zipp 404 Wireless Powertap Wheels. All you do is place an order their proven energy products – and choose the prize you want to win…
Giro'08: The Contenders!
Message by Jered Gruber Oh it is so close to time. We here at PEZ have a special place in our hearts for the Giro, and thus we have a special place in our beating drums for the riders in Italy's finest race, and this year we'll even be treated to some of racing's finest as the Giro continues its ascension from almost purely an Italian event, to an event with all of the world's best.
The 1990 Giro With Frankie Andreu
Message by NONE Ahead of this year's race, Andreu took PEZ on a behind the scenes look at the 1990 edition with a very fresh young 7-Eleven team hoping to continue Andy Hampsten's legacy. It was not to be, but there were some very memorable events nonetheless.
EuroTrash Thursday!
Message by Jered Gruber Find your favorite pink shirts boys and girls because it's Almost Giro Celebration Day, or something like that. We've got news news and then some more of the same from all over, and yes, even some tidbits from Italia. Take a double shot of espresso this morning, get yourself some gelato, and leave work early.
PEZ Reviews: Impsport's Braveheart Kit
Message by Gordan Cameron When The Pez gave me the call to review some kit, he knew that the mention of tartan would get this proud Scotsman onboard! Impsport's clothing range for the Braveheart Cycling Fund, a charity aimed at supporting and developing the next generation of Scottish peloton heroes, was duly sent north for a rigorous examination!
Giro di PEZ: Desperately Seeking Sicilia
Message by Richard Pestes It’s my first time to the south of Italia and the Giro grande partenza – and I’ve landed in Palermo in one piece, but without my luggage or bike… But the sun is shining, this place is beautiful, and as I search for the perfect negroni, I hope to learn a lot more about this unique part of the world – let’s get started!
